Jeff Arensdorf is the owner of Village Travel in Wichita, Kansas. Located in northwest Wichita, they found themselves running out of room and looking for a new home. Jeff purchased land north of K-96 on Ridge Road and started the process of developing, building and moving into a new facility.  As Jeff mentions, this was not a project he was looking forward to after poor experiences with other commercial general contractors in the past. “After building buildings in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, and not having a very good experience, I thought that’s the way it was always going to be.”

When we started this design-build, pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) project with Village Travel, we knew it was important to hear all of the client’s dreams and ideas before designing. This included visiting the company’s other locations in Oklahoma.  There, we asked managers and foremen, “If you could tell Jeff something about the building, what would it be?” to find out what building features would make their jobs better or easier, and what designs or layouts they would change or improve. We took all of those answers and our onsite research into consideration when designing the property that now houses a massive parking lot for buses and travelers, a lobby, offices, and loading and service bays.

The whole process resulted in a useful, innovative, Butler PEMB and a very happy customer. (We were also pleased to be able to turn around Jeff’s ideas of what a construction project could be!) He also says he was impressed with the creative, new ideas and how they were implemented. “Going through the project with Commerce, I realized that it can be a good experience. I was surprised how many ideas they brought to the table that I hadn’t thought of. It was the best experience that I’ve had with construction contractors.”

Thanks for your review, Jeff!
